The camera man brought Ava Abrams to their manager’s house, a small mansion in a quiet bedroom town only a twenty-minute commute out of the city. Slaves may not be used to commit crimes on behalf of their owners. Crimes committed by slaves will be punished through their owners unless the owner is found guilty of being knowingly involved in the crime.

Slaves will receive wellness checks once a month and will be allowed limited communication with free relatives or a trusted person to ensure that abuses are reported.

Slaves may sue their owners or other free persons in the Slave Sub Court for damages against their protections to be added to their peculium. Loss of the case will result in punishment for wasting the time of citizens.

Slaves may not be deprived of food, sleep, human contact, or medical care that would be a detriment to their health.

The offspring of slaves shall not be enslaved unless they themselves fit the requirements of enslavement at adulthood.

Slaves who were married before their enslavement shall not be owned separately, and will have extra protection including minimum conjugal contact on a monthly basis, unless that privilege is taken away by order of the Slave Sub Court

Slaves will have the right to ¼ vote for a representative to government bodies. This representative must be a slave, allowed to hold office by its owner. Should none be available, that position will be held by a state-owned slave, elected from a pool of available chattel. This representative will have half the respective voting power of its free counterpart.

For all internal policy changes, the Slave Registry will have two boards consisting of five free persons, two male slaves, and two female slaves. These positions will be filled with direct general election, where the top scoring members of each subcategory receive the positions. The boards will meet separately, but votes will count as one body.

Slaves may access, or request access to their peculium once a month. Should they be suing for a change in ownership, this may be done at any time, but may only be done once every three months should they lose their case.

An initial set of expectation for free people in regard to handling slaves shall include but are not limited to:

The owner of a slave, whose offspring are selected for enslavement may claim ownership of the enslaved offspring. Any adult may petition to be enslaved, with approval from the Slave Sub Court. The decision must be unanimous between a jury consisting of one slave, one person who owns a slave, and one person who does not own a slave after completing a trial period in which they are subject to the conditions of slavery for one week.
